Tin Can Pot Plants 2017
At Jacobs Early Learning we are all about ‘SUSTAINABILITY’ and as part of our sustainable practices we often refer to the three R’s. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. This year we are currently collecting old tin cans to reuse as a pot for our herbs and succulent hanging plant wall.
To all those who have currently participated, our little gardeners thank you as we continue to grow our outdoors into a greener place!
Reconciliation week 2017
For Reconciliation week children have been involved in many Indigenous Australian centered activities such as creating the Indigenous Flag making dot painting boomerangs and reading Dream time stories, to pass on the knowledge of our country’s culture and show respect to those who came before us.
Mother's Day 2017
At Jacobs Early Learning we are all about ‘SUSTAINABILITY’ and as part of our sustainable practices we often refer to the three R’s. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. This year for Mother’s day we decided to learn more about the environment and how to take care of it by making gifts for our loved ones out of natural materials.
Children painted and designed their own pot plants, shoveled soil into their pot and planted herb seeds (with the help of educators). while also using the garden to make rose petal cards.
Chinese New Year 2017
For Chinese New Year, The Year of the Rooster. Children participated in painting a rooster with a fork, this showed children that art can be made in a number of different ways using different things. Children also participated in learning to eat with chopsticks and being involved in our Chinese setting play area, which included a Chinese tea pot, and kitchen bowls and utensils suitable for play and Chinese style puzzles.
Australia Day 2017
To celebrate Australia day this year children participated in constructing their own mini Australian Flags using icy-pole sticks, scissors, glue and colored pencils. Children then participated in creating a mini parade in which they danced and waved their flags to the Australian Anthem. Children also participated in painting their own Australian flag and making hand print Koala bears – one of Australians famous and native animals.
Children's Christmas lunch 2016
This week Children will be involved in having their own Christmas lunch with their peers, on Friday the 23rd of December. Children will get to experience eating typical festive foods such as leg of ham and get the full party experience with party hats, bonbons and Christmas games.
Christmas Celebrations/Party 2016
Children have been preparing for our upcoming Christmas party for the 2nd of December. Participating in various activities and experiences including, song and dance to Christmas carols, decorating their room and Christmas trees and many arts and crafts associated with the season.

Milk Bottle Igloo 2016
At Jacobs Early Learning we are all about ‘SUSTAINABILITY’ and as part of our sustainable practices we often refer to the three R’s. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Throughout the year Parents, families and educators have been involved in collecting over 400 old milk bottles to create a environmentally friendly cubby house for the children of Jacobs Early learning Centre to enjoy.
Footy/Grandfinal Week 2016
To celebrate The football Grand final children ‘Footy week’ children were encouraged to come dressed in their favourite footy wear and to participate in various football centered activities and games, such as learning how to handball/kick a footy and various arts and craft associated with football and the grand final teams.
Jacobs Olympics 2016
During the celebration of the 2016 Rio Olympics children have participated in various indoor and outdoor sports activities. Including, Soccer, Basketball,egg and spoon race and Obstacle courses, all of which focus on developing children’s gross motor skills, hand eye coordination and physical health and well being.
Rainbow Fish - Reading Day 2016
To celebrating our book of the month ‘The Rainbow Fish’ by Marcus Pfister. Children participated in JELC rainbow fish reading day.
Children were advised to come dressed up as their favourite book character or their favourite colour of the rainbow (as did educators) and bring along their favourite book to share with their peers. Throughout the day children were involved in various activities centered around the rainbow fish such as, hand printing art, play dough, face painting and making rainbow biscuits.
